CREATION And UPDATING the CARTOGRAPHIC INFORMATION ON THE BASE OF REMOTE SENSING DATA

Materials of space survey are used in cartography during 40 years, however last years similar works were sharply intensified owing to the increased characteristics of satellite systems and an easier access to data. Experience of the Russian and foreign companies, and also results of our enterprise work show assured use of space pictures at creation and updating topographical maps of scales up to 1:5 000 and smaller. In the most widespread space survey data are cited (Table 1).

The experimental works conducted in FGUP «Uralgeoinform» have allowed to estimate accuracy and information parameters of Landsat, Spot, QuickBird, Ikonos space images and to develop organization and technology schemes for creation and updating of digital topographic maps in base scales on space survey materials. Also albums topographic deciphering sample space images have been created.

By using of space images the close approach to a choice of survey system, definition of preliminary data processing level, the software, depending even of such factors, as the area on demand, a geographical site of object, an effectiveness of data acquisition are required.

For the last two years we execute a number of industrial projects, such as (see Fig.  1):

1.                            Updating of the Ural Federal District cartographical block GIS (the map in base scale of 1:200 000) on the basis of Landsat7 space images with resolution of 15 m.

2.                            Updating of digital topographical maps in scales of 1:25 000, 100 000 on the Spot space images basis with the resolution of  2, 5 m and 10 m.

3.                            Creation of some municipal GIS digital cartographic basis in scale of 1:10 000 on the basis of QuickBird space pictures with the resolution of 0,6 m.

4.                            Updating of oil-and-gas fields digital topographical plans in scale of 1:5 000 on the basis of QuickBird space pictures with the resolution of 0,6 m.

5.                            And others …

 

Besides space images allow the enterprise to solve also thematic problems, for example, creation of a digital cartographical basis for agricultural purpose in scale of 1:10 000 and so forth.

            Special demand of our customers was caused with derivative kinds of production: orthophotoplans, kosmophotomaps and three-dimensional models of terrain (See Fig. 2).

            Thus, space images strongly take the place in cartographic works.
