A COMBINED FRAMEWORK OF SPATIO-TEMPORAL DATA ORGANIZATION

Space, attribute and time are the three basic characteristics of geographical phenomena or the essential data types of GIS database. Because of the complexity of the organization of spatio-temporal data, the research on the combination of spatial and temporal have not met satisfactorily, and commercial spatio-temporal DBMS does not appeared up to now. There are some issues in research of TGIS. A lot of models have been proposed, but few models were realized; many researches on theories but few on application; many studies on vector data but few on the raster.
The paper mainly studies the organization of spatio-temporal data, which is the key in temporal GIS based on the relational database. The author brings a combined framework to organize the spatio-temporal data. There are five kinds of combination in the framework: 1.The combine of static state and temporal state 2.The combine of vector data and raster data 3.The combine of topological data and non-topological data 4. The combine of discrete change and continuous change. 5. The combination between geometry data and attributive data.
Based on the Oracle database and Visual C++, an experiment system is designed and realized. A lot of functions are realized such as the inflow database of patch data, the change of patch attribute, the segmentation of patch, the coalition of patch, the inflow database of the base state image, the inflow database of the non-base state image, the display of the base state and actuality image and the display of the non-base state image. Then some experiments are done with patch data, vehicle track data and cloud images of meteorological satellite. And the results show that the proposed designs and methods in the paper are efficient.
