THE DATE BASE OF GEOGRAPHICAL NAMES OF BRAZIL – BNGB: BUILDING, PROTOTYPE AND SPREAD PLACE NAMES TO BRAZILIAN SOCIETY

The Brazilian Geographical and Statistical Institute – IBGE has a mission of show the Brazil to make available to the society systematic information about our reality in it’s territorial : demographic, social, economics and political. These informations possibilities to show the most important characteristics of the country to the all society, showing with truth the brazilian’s reality. Following and modernization the changes in course, reading the goal of attend, wide quality and economic the great society necessities for more information, ask for clearness to the institutional mission knowledge of the basic factors that are and will be accomplish this institute in it’s activities of production raise and spread information.
In this context the IBGE looks for accomplish the technological process evolution of production and spread to brazilian society.
Is important to know that the changes speed needs constants institution updates. Brazil is also poor in terms of date base that contains place names in a organized way, standard, and available to society. In this context IBGE decided to insert a date base of Geographical names in Brazil – the BNGB.
The BNGB is structured to all the demands for information that will be research and systematic.
The prototype of BNGB must contemplated the following classes or information categories: information resource, laws, foundation date, motivation, etymology, historical, nicknames, alternative names, indication of intellectual propriety, guarantee, positional geographical reference, important observations of representatives and others.
The aim of this paper is to show the process and studies about the building of BNGB, the prototype concepts, logical and physical process of BNGB, just like the first outcomes and tests of consultation system.
