As announced earlier, the ICA commissions on Use and User Issues, Cognitive Visualization, Geovisualization and Map Design invite you to the following pre-ICC2015 workshops at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil on 20 and 21 August 2015:
The website cartografia.ufpr.br contains all the information you may need about the two workshops and also offers facilities to register for one or both workshops in Curitiba. We would like to ask you to register a.s.a.p. but, in any case, before 1 July 2015. Registration for our workshops will only be possible through this website. It is also important to know that you will have to book your travels and overnight accommodation yourself. The website provides information to help you with this.
All are encouraged to make travel plans in August 2015 which include the pre-conference Joint Workshop of the Commissions on Education & Training and Maps & the Internet. The main International Cartographic Conference will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 23–28 August 2015. The joint workshop will be presented in a more informal environment in the university city of Curitiba from 20–21 August 2015.
This meeting will present an opportunity for cartographers from Brasil, and those from around the world to discuss and present developments at the interface between contemporary internet technologies and current educational practice. It will be held at the Federal University of Parana (a progressive, hi-tech, institution with an excellent reputation for cartographic education). Commission members, professors Claudia Robbi Sluter and Maria Brandalise from the Department of Geomatics will host this meeting in their home institution.
The meeting will overlap another joint ICA Commission meeting (by the ICA Commissions on Use & User Issues, Cognitive Visualization, Geovisualization and Map Design) in the same venue, allowing for attendance at both. Onward travel to the ICC in Rio de Janeiro will be easy. The meeting will be free to attend, and we encourage all cartographers who have an interest in developments in cartographic/geospatial science education, and in Internet Mapping, to contribute.
Contributions in the form of short presentations are sought on the following topics:

The deadline for submitting papers for the upcoming International Cartographic Conference 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, has passed. We are excited to see that an unexpected high number of submissions have been received!
Now the Scientific Committee under the chairmanship of Prof Claudia Robbi Sluter (University of Parana) will look into the quality of the submissions by reviewing every single entry. With this a selection of submissions to the various publication media including Journals, Book and Proceedings will be proposed and authors will get feedback on how they can improve their submissions. Altogether we all can expect a great programme with exciting contributions and sessions, which fits into the impression the Executive Committee just recently got, when they visited the site of the conference and Rio de Janeiro. Our Brazilian Colleagues are working hard, professional and committed. Also the website of the City Administration of Rio de Janeiro is reporting about the visit: ICC 2015 is seen as the highlight for the city inbetween the World Soccer Cup 2014 and the Olympic Games 2016!
Make sure your company, your institution and of course yourself is present at next year’s ICC 2015!
