DELIMITATION OF AREA COVERAGE FOR SEABED MATERIAL BASED ON VORONOI DIAGRAMS

With the exploitation of seabed resources, the delimitation of area coverage for the different seabed materials becomes more significant, which also benefits the submarine operations, and provides a helpful reference for the surveyors and cartographers. Through the comparison of several means of geo-delimitation, Voronoi diagram has been selected because of its influence-region trait. According to the principles of Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi polygon in computational geometry, a Voronoi algorithm based on Delaunay that named indirect method has been put forward in detail. After the combination of all the adjacent Voronoi polygons that possesses the same seabed material attribute, the delimitation chart has been presented. The experiment shows that it achieves a satisfied result in the delimitation of area coverage for seabed material.
