The aim oh this paper “Geographic Names of the State of Rio de Janeiro (BR), from century XVI to century XXI: a boarding diachronic” based on the researches about geographical names on Rio de Janeiro territorial, since the beginning of territorial structure formation of this Brazilian land in the XVI century until nowadays. This research focus along the time line, the most important changes occurred in the Rio de Janeiro state territory in Brazil, from existence of geographical names in focus consideration geographical, historic ethnographic and etymologies aspects in the territorial formation. This outbuilding of Rio de Janeiro territory joining, the research and analysis historical cartographic documentation, just as is based on the research the legal structure that helps in your formation. Also are studied, some aspects about subsidy to the establishment of the trade mark at the geographical indications, present in a singular way in each part of Rio de Janeiro territory objective protect the local production against future and feasible trying to register the geographical indications come from other countries just like alarm the local producers about this register possibility, most part of the time unknown. Finally is cooled attention to the importance of National Commission Working of Geographical Names, which will stand and protect the Brazilian’s geographical names, nowadays with no importance just as it would be.
