In the last decades of 20th Century, the incorporation of the
woman to the professional activities has been a remarkable reality.
In the present paper I present a general study of the role of the
women who have had diverse tasks related with the cartography and theirs
evolution throughout the different decades up to coming to the current
situation.
There is realized a description of the different
public organisms that have been in charge of the production of the official
cartography in Spain as frame of reference to place the feminine position,
in relation to the cartographic topics.
There are analyzed the historical circumstances that
have explained different moments of advance and setback by very unequal paces
of the incorporation of the Spanish woman to the cartographic tasks throughout the 20th
Century.
Also there is analyzed the singular consideration of the
different academic qualifications and theirs influence in the access of the
women to the cartographic estates.
