GPS and GIS
are beginning to common in agricultural production, especially in crop
production. However, there are several examples of the use of GPS and GIS in
livestock production. For instance, there are a lot of problems finding cows on
large pastures. To solve that problem, the cows are equipped with a transmitter
which makes it possible for “the cowboys” to find their cows. The equipment is
also used in research to study the movements of the cows on pasture.
In the
presentation other examples of using GPS and GIS in livestock production are
presented.
