Abstract
Emotions are essential parts of the human nature and therefore also essential parts of the cartographic industry. People’s feelings towards specific places and areas within the city affect their socio-economic behavior as well as city development plans. Emotional maps can be used in various scenarios ranging from community building, through political mobilization to town planning. The paper describes different emotional mapping projects implemented in the Czech Republic. Firstly it is emotional mapping with school children in middle size bohemian city as a part of the artistic-community projects. Second, author describes using emotional maps for political mobilization. Third, author puts the main interest on using emotional maps as visualization tool for workshops organized by Healthy Cities of the Czech Republic Network within their Local Agenda 21 activities. The Network is using the emotional maps as a part of their citizen participation workshops and the results are easily exported to shapefile, hence it can be used in any GIS software together with cadaster maps, analytical layers as well as development plans. Authors will present the self-created web-application (http://www.pocitovemapy.cz/) created for crowdsourced collecting of spatial data related to emotional feelings within the city. The main idea of the paper is to introduce new approach in GeoParticipation – the online emotional maps for community development.
