Abstract
The research with geographical names, place names, allows the reconstruction of the traits of cultural, political, and economic partners of civilizations, societies and even local people who inhabited a particular point in space. In the pursuit of analysis of geographic names on the Realengo district, this research moves towards a study to correlate the toponyms, its meaning and influence in this consolidation of Realengo district. We adopt the year 1985 as the framework of this research, it was the last change made in the district boundaries. With this framework it is possible to ensure that no others streets outside incorporated through changes in administrative boundaries, restricting the emergence of new public parks just by creating the internal boundaries. So, we can list the main objective of the research conduct a study of the place names in the Realengo district, as its origin and taxonomy; also establishing a correlation between the toponyms and the objects that make up the space In the field of methods and materials we will be used cartographic and documentary basis for extracting place names from locations in the Realengo district. This basis is provided by the Instituto Pereira Passos - IPP RIO. The first step consists in treating this based on the 10.1 ArcGIS software. Toponymic dictionaries for classification of place names as the taxonomy and origin of place names will be used. Following this classification, makes it a geostatistical analysis to infer spatial relationships between place names and fixed objects in space. Although the methods, we seek through these two variables establish spatial relationships, density and distance. The density will infer the number of place names in certain ranges of areas according to the distance of the objects pre-established. For each object are listed certain classes of toponyms. Within the toponymic research in the cartography laboratory of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro this is a less explored method. However, it is expected to obtain an inverse relationship between distance and toponymic density. The more one moves away from the object set, the lower the concentration of certain classes of place names directly connected to them. Similarly, the approach to these objects will infer a higher density of place names. Previously established for this test indicate appointed path and expected results. Through a survey of critical reflection and analysis of the results, maps, tables and charts that reveal the history of consolidation in the Realengo district in recent years, serving as a supplement to in-depth studies in previous centuries of occupation are shown. You can also still some depth, understand the relationship between the changes in the landscape and the name of places, streets, and every space object treated in this research. Cultural, political, economic and social traits allies with the place names as a way of expressing the mindset and habits of certain periods. So, be expected to open new avenues in toponymic studies aggregating knowledge geoestatistics this area.
