Abstract
We intend, based on the anthroponyms written in various statistic-documentary records, to point out, using the cartographic representa-tions, various geographic particularities, which the names of people from the historical Moldavia may reveal. It is about elements of the ethnic structure of the population, of the professional structure of the active population, of the historical migrations between the different historical regions of Romania, of literacy in the more ancient periods of time, etc. The documentation intends to inventory the various sources, starting from epigraphic (inscriptions) and historical documents to various statistic records (inventories, yearbooks) and records of the telephone companies’ subscribers, for a period starting from the antiq-uity until nowadays. The final purpose is to reveal the Moldavian anthroponymic character, the time-spatial distribution of anthroponyms and to offer the specialists and everyone else interested an anthoponymic treasury of Moldavia, pointed out from a cartographic point of view as well as considering the explanation of the linguistic origin of these names, of the variants and derivatives, of the first documentary attestation, etc.
