Abstract
Internet technology has effectively bridged the physical distance to transform learning experience. A recent entrant into the segment is Google+ Hangout, a free service from Google which facilitates group video interaction over the internet. The advanced technology which focuses on ‘face to face’ interaction for multiple users, distinguishes Google+ hangout from other contemporary services, i.e. Skype. This technology has been used in teaching elementary Internet technology and an introduction to client-based mapping applications. Based on analysis of student feedback, the authors report the effectiveness of Google + Hangout as a learning environment. The virtual face-to-face ambience generated facilitates simulation of real classroom extending the impression of purely eLearning content.
