Abstract
Abstract During 2001, National Geographic Institute of Argentine decided incorporate training as a formal activity. In the last decades, an increasing number of emerging technologies have drastically changed our behaviour, both as professionals and as teachers. These emerging technologies have increased quite a lot the availability of multipurpose geographic data. The Training Centre in Geographical Sciences of National Geographic Institute was formed to teach Geotechnologies. Remote sensing, Cartography, Geodesy and GPS are some of the disciplines embodied in different training levels. This paper presents a detailed analysis the experiences teaching during these fifteen years, the problems and solutions found in trying to incorporate these new technological developments and their benefits. The activity was accepted for students, professionals, in a very competitive market. Some conclusions and recommendations are presented as strategic features to be considered in the education process. The challenges are many, but there is a strategic and investment plan that will allow achieving the objectives.
