Geotechnologies in Education: use of Google Fusion Table on Thematic Mapping

Abstract
Abstract: The main objective of this study was to present the result of elaboration and analysis of thematic maps of two municipalities in Sao Paulo: Rio Claro and Miracatu, using tool available on the web. Altogether sixteen maps were made using the application of Google Drive, named Fusion Table and on the basis of data, variables of 2000 and 2010 Censuses (IBGE) in order to characterize the public services in both municipalities. The services were selected due to the possibility of comparison of data, because the different socio-economic realities of the two municipalities. The development of such mapping focuses on the use of this material, especially this tool – Fusion Table –, in teaching geography in public schools due to the free, simple and interactive use of this application. From the possibility of the use of this and other cartographic and geographic tools, search-if a reflection about the importance of the insertion of Geotechnologies in teaching in order to enable a meaningful learning content, because it enables the student to interact, create your maps. As a result besides cartographic knowledge, the student understands the reality in which he lives, becomes not only a student, but a citizen with opportunities to perform critical analysis of the territories and act in society.
