Abstract
This study aims to understand the transformation of the local geography, starting from the analysis of natural and cultural elements in the vicinity of a public school. For this, we chose to complement the activities of the classroom with practical field observation whose purpose was to test whether the development and implementation of these activities could contribute not only to formal education, as well as "the construction of social being." When scheduling the proposal, which focused on the basic geography and content insertion and discussion with students about the spatial organization and your reflexes, were instrumental in setting up these subjects as agents of transformation of this space.Classroom visual aids, texts, films (prepared by students with former and current photographs of the area visited), Internet research, plant of the municipality in order to work out the basic content of natural and cultural elements were used. Furthermore, with practical field in which the orientation, location, climate, vegetation, urban and rural, the population and the soil contained in the surroundings of the school contributed to analysis of the transformation of the local geography for the purpose of assisting production of school atlas, not to be edited, but to encourage teachers and students in discussions of relevant topics in geography lessons, as well as developing the cognitive activities of those who will handle them. This teaching intervention was developed in the State College Associate Justice Antonio Franco Ferreira da Costa, Elementary and High School, the class of 5th C of the morning, located in Icaraíma (PR), and by the practices one can mention that it was a viable procedure to build "social being."
