Abstract
This paper presents cartographic practices developed with Middle school students of a private school in Brasilia. A geography teacher oriented these practices in an interdisciplinary project with field trip to a historical city. The methodology had cartographic exercises as important approach to develop map reading, construction and interpretation of geographic and cultural information about points visited during field trip. The organization of this work with maps helped students to understand and represent the formation and organization of a city. The mediation of Geography teacher was very important for this exercise especially to encourage and orientate activities to students to act as map reader and map maker of geographical events observed.
