Abstract
Quantitative spatial similarity relation is of important in automated map generalization. This paper proposes a quantitative definition of spatial similarity relations in multi-scale map spaces by means of the set theory. The definitions lay a mathematical foundation for constructing models for calculating spatial similarity degrees between objects in multi-scale map spaces.
