Abstract
The following Project assesses the potentials of participatory mapping (PM) against the communities and its demands. The public policies will be able to be better elaborated and executed through this mapping. In order to make all this new method of mapping, new free software had been developed. Such as Open Street Map, which uses the Wiki platform, can be altered by many different individuals. It results having different authors. Besides that, audio and video data can be added to it. There has been motivation regarding this information in order to develop research about the methods 15 to 17 year old students from a public institution can use the participative mapping. This institution had been chosen at random, it’s located on the municipality of Serra, in Espírito Santo State, Brazil.
